Volunteering
Self Supported Volunteering: We have no volunteer coordinator and can only provide volunteer support on an ad hoc basis, so if you want to volunteer be prepared to be self reliant! All volunteers are asked to make a donation of £2 for the return ferry crossing and if staying over a £15 donation per night. This includes access to firewood, candles and torches, gas cooker, toilet roll, cleaning supplies and basic hand tools.
Much of the work we do relies on members of the community getting involved and volunteering their time. If you would like to volunteer then please do get in touch using the form on the “Contact” page.
We need all sorts of people to get involved to help with various areas, so whatever your skills there is something that you can get involved with, from fund raising to building maintenance.
If you would like to support us through a fund-raising project of your own then this would be welcome and we will support you in turn with promotion through our social media channels and e-newsletter. All funds received go towards maintaining the island and working towards our goal of having the island inhabited again and open to visitors. Get in touch if you have a project in mind that you’d like to discuss.
Structured Volunteering: We are planning on hosting some structured residential volunteering sessions in the future, with a focus on key tasks and learning through group work. Keep an eye on the page or get in touch if you’d be interested in participating. These sessions would have a charge to cover bed, board and training.
